Effective energy efficiency policy implementation targetion "New Modern Energy CONsumers" in the Greater Mekong Subregion

#2 meeting on November 28-30, 2013 at Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST), Hanoi, Vietnam

#2 Meeting

On 28-30 November 2013, Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) hosted a second MECON project meeting at the university campus in Hanoi. The first day of the meeting mainly focused on ongoing tasks, which are baseline information and energy data analysis (task 1), market survey (task 2) and household survey (task 3). Before the meeting, each partner has launched market and household pilot surveys, and the results from those surveys were fruitfully discussed in the meeting. The second day of the meeting was mainly about the action plan for the next 6 months.

On the last day of the meeting, JGSEE with assistance from HUST and University of College London (UCL) provided other partners introduction training on Long range Energy Alternatives Planning System (LEAP). LEAP model plays a crucial role in energy data analysis in task 1 of the project. Although taking place for only half of day, the training received positive feedback from partners, and a more in-depth training is likely to be held again in the next project meeting in Cambodia in May 2014.

As for upcoming tasks, MECON project partners will revise the questionnaires for market and household surveys, and also plan for the real surveys in all participated countries. Moreover, each partner will start to develop LEAP model in order to analyze energy data retrieved from task 1.
