Project objectives

The project will have the following research objectives. To:

• Facilitate the reduction of household expenditure on energy through increased uptake of energy efficiency measures, enabling new modern energy consumers in the GMS to increase expenditure on other needs.
• Establish an evidence base on energy efficiency; this will include energy efficiency technologies, measures and policies, and energy use by new modern energy consumers in the GMS.
• Identify the opportunities and barriers to the adoption of energy efficiency technologies amongst new modern energy consumers in the GMS, using a holistic, multi-disciplinary approach.
• Make robust, evidence-based recommendations for the design and implementation of energy efficiency in the GMS, specifically for new modern energy consumers.
• Enhance research capacity in the GMS, to include research methodologies, methods and tools relevant for research on energy and climate change, and to disseminate the project findings to a wide range of stakeholders in the GMS and UK.
