Myanmar Engineering Society (MES)
Myanmar Engineering Society (MES), founded in 1995, is the professional civil society with Energy and Renewable Energy Committee. This Committee has a consulting/ advisory role in energy efficiency and conservation, energy management and renewable energy. The MES has been assigned as the counterpart to coordinate all related activities with guidance from the Ministry of Energy for many years. MES also works closely with the ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE) in the region’s energy co-operation and policy matters.

Mr. Aung Thet Paing, is an ASEAN Engineer (AER: 3363) and a member of the Energy and Renewable Energy Committee of Myanmar Engineering Society (MES) which is involved with the consulting/ advisory role for energy related matters including energy Efficiency & Conservation, energy management and renewable energy. He studied his MBA in Japan and participated in renewable energy research for rural electrification in Asia-Pacific region by biomass gasification. He also has participated in the Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS) countries Energy and Environment Co-operations. Moreover, he has been taking the role of National Industrial Energy Efficiency Consultant to UNIDO for the project entitled “Improvement of Industrial Energy Efficiency in Myanmar” and also involve in the Green Industry Policy and ‘Resource Efficiency and Cleaner Production (RECP)’ projects. He is presently working as the Deputy General Manager at United Engineering Group (one of the leading companies of Oil & Gas services in Myanmar), responsible for business development, HR capacity building and CSR activities. His interest in energy, environment and CSR always convinces him to participate in the researches on energy, environment and socio-economics by representing Myanmar Engineering Society (MES).
Ms.May Phyu Aye is a researcher for the project “Effective Energy Efficiency Policy Implementation targeting “New Modern Energy CONsumer” in the Greater Mekong Sub-region, (MECON project)”. She received her Bachelor of Engineering (Electronics) in 2005 and Master of Engineering (Electronics) in 2007. After graduation, from 2007 to 2009, she was employed as a Junior Engineer at the Information and Technology Department, Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. Since 2010, she has been an administrative support for ASEAN Energy Management Scheme (AEMAS) project which is established by the funding of a European Commission (Switch Asia Program) and corporation with ASEAN Centre for Energy together with the partners from seven other ASEAN countries. As she is a member of Energy and Renewable Energy Committee of MES, she also actively carries out the activities of energy efficiency and conservation like ASEAN Energy Award (AEA) Competition.
